Vegetarian Bed & Breakfast Penrhiw, Llanafan, nr Aberystwyth

About Us. About Us Banner 2022

Our Bed and Breakfast near Aberystwyth

Penrhiw translates from Welsh to English as "head of the hill”

The farmhouse and barn was built in the 1870′s. The barn became a bakery and was then converted later into an impressive room with vaulted ceiling. This is now our meeting room. A similar room was also built onto the south side of the house at the same time; this room with its stunning views is where breakfast is served.

Everyone who lives or stays at Penrhiw eats a vegetarian diet, including the owner - we don’t eat meat (so no "full English"); but some of us do eat dairy products. We provide delicious vegan and non-vegan breakfasts + other dietary needs on request.

About Us. Breakfastspread

Typically items normally served at breakfast are:

Fresh fruit, juice, muesli, porridge or cereal, cows milk, soya milk, free range eggs, wholemeal, granary, sourdough bread/ toast, marmite, marmalade, jam or honey, a selection of teas and filter coffee.

Suitable for a vegan and non-vegan diets.

Breakfast is normally served in the south facing breakfast room looking across the Ystwyth valley. In warmer weather, breakfast can also be served in the garden or on the south facing patio area.

We also try and support local shops/produce. The eggs we cook with are all free range from a farm in the village.

Many of our other breakfast produce are either grown or purchased at independent organic health food shops in Aberystwyth.Treehouses being a fine example. Awarded the "Best Ethical Restaurant" in Wales 2013 by the Observer Newspaper.

Our nearest pub/restaurant, "Y Ffarmers" is the Observer Newspaper's choice of "Best Sunday Lunch in Wales" 2014. The chef cooks beautiful food using mainly local ingredients. "The Talbot" nearby in Tregaron is another fine "gastro pub" that serves real ale and fine food. "Arabic Flavour" in town got a wow review from Jay Rayner in the the Guuardian newspaper this year. Our ever popular "Medina" is still serving strong. All our guests who have supped at "Medina's" have loved it !

So you won't starve here!

We also try to live in an ecological way. The loft has recently had a foot thick of insulation installed. The wood we burn in our stove is from a sustainable forest. Approximately 90% of our waste is either re-cycled or composted so our dustbin takes 3-4 weeks to get full ! We also try and grow herbs and vegetables in our garden.

VEGETARIAN PENRHIW IS CLOSED EVERY DAY FROM 10.30 - 17.30

We are also a supporter of Vegetarian Vacations and www.easybedandbreakfasts.co.uk
